Thanks for the warm welcome!

Sorry to dissapoint some of you. Guess in this kind of thing you cant do both without having a minimum of 2 tanks. I am going to start with a FW tank. Maybe after some time and a great deal of learning, I will venture into the world of SW tanks. But for now, let me get my feet wet on the FW.

I have read the AA article on fishless cycling and intend to go that route. It only makes sense to do it fishless. If the cycling fails, I'm out one dead shrimp. Otherwise, it could be a more expensive live fish. Is this something that is new? I am a member at a few other boards, and while there is some mention of it, there doesn't seem to be too many people pushing it. Just curious.

BTW, if anyone is interested, Ketso is (I was told) the Mingo Indian word for fish. And no, I have no Mingo heritage. Cherokee, yes. Mingo, no.

Cheers!
Ketso

I'm not too sure how new the fishless cycle is but it is the more humane way, IMO. Really, to start a cycle you just need an ammonia source (rotting shrimp), fish waste, or anything that produces ammonia.

Where can I get 1 of those catfish in your signature pic?

And might I be so bold to say, with my limited experience in aquariums, that I really think that tank is overstocked!
