HI all! My name is Tracy and I am new to the boards.
I have previously had two saltwater reefs. Started with a 29 gallon and upgraded to a 100 gallon with sump. Then decided after a year or so to get out of the hobby. So I have been out for about 4 years I think.
After my vacation in June to Hawaii, I decided I'd like to dive back in.
Soooo now I have set up a 29 gallon again, with a HOB skimmer/fuge combo and a Whisper 60 HOB filter. I have 60 lbs ls, and 9 lbs lr (I think), 7 lbs base rock.
I started my cycle and it sat for about 2 weeks doing nothing pretty much. I had added a shrimp to start my cycle and my ammonia got to 1.00, and my trites went up slightly....not even to the first color change .25 (it did change colors but didn't go all the way to the .25) So I think possibly .10 or .15
Anyway I never got any trades. SOOOO I went and added Dr. Tim's One and Only and added my inverts and fish the next day. Everything is great. My ammonia is 0, trites 0, and trates 0
I do have some hair algae as I did start with tap water (I KNOW I KNOW BIG NO NO), but now I am doing water changes and top offs with Primo bottled water. So eventually all the tap will be out.
Anyway my tank list is
2 green Chromis
10 Nass Vibex snails (that is what they are supposed to be but I don't think they are as they are black and much larger than my last species and they seem to stay above the sand more. My previous species of Nass Vibex stayed below the sand until I fed then they came up) Any ideas?
1 tiger Conch
3 other snails that eat algae not sure of the species I'm thinking a type of Tronchus (probably misspelled...sorry)
