Thumbs up Hi!

Hi, I'm new to the hobby, my boyfriend surprised me with a 55gal tank! I've currently got LR and that's about it, I think it's cycled but not sure. Can't wait to get my first fish!

Make sure it`s cycled before you add fish. We have a good article about it in our article section.

I definitely want to make sure it's cycled. The reason I'm confused is that once I added live rock, there was no ammonia spike, and 3 days after the addition, I had 10 ppm nitrAtes and no ammonia or nitrIte. Any ideas on why this happened?

It`s going to take more time for the ammonia and nitrites. If your LR was already cured you might not see much of a spike.
