Hi all,

I'm new on here, and new to the world of aqauriums, today my parents bought me my first tank, it's only a small 35ltr tank that came with light fitted, heater and internal filter.

Following the instructions on treatments set up etc, i'm nearly ready to get my first fish

What i need is some help and advice on stocking, to start with i was wanting to start with something simple like a couple of goldfish and build up from there.

However i do like Gourami's can i stock these with goldfish?

Would goldfish need the heater on?

Any advice would be great. :thanks:

Hi and welcome :)

I highly doubt you're quite ready.

Someone will Come and link cycling threads, but that is your first step.

A 10 gal tank is a good starter, I'd pick a natural and untainted substrate.

So you don't have to worry about stocking yet, focus on cycling the tank. :)

In the meanwhile, you may stock some plants!

Welcome to the world of fishkeeping.

You're definitely not ready for fish yet, as mentioned above. You have to cycle the tank first. Please read these articles:

Goldfish require a larger tank than you have. Just one requires 20 gallons.

We can help you pick fish out after you've cycled. Let us know what other species you might like.
