i'm fairly new to fishkeeping but i've been interested for years.
i have three betas, 2 crown tail & one veil tail.
jupiter is yellow/orange with a touch of black
venus is a green/red mettallic looking color w/ a blue tail
and Neptune is turquoise and dark blue

one of the ways I see a lot do is use a piece of seeded filter media from another tank

if you scroll down to section #16 bacteria starter this will explain what I just mentioned
but you should read the whole article it will benefit you and your cycle

sounds like you have a good start on fish keeping. nice beta colors
