Hi from Australia

Hello everyone! Just joined up today. About me? Well, I'm 50, and have been keeping aquariums for the last 40 years (on and off)! I'm far from an expert. I have improved in recent years! I'm a Classical/electronic music composer, and I'm based in Tasmania...the coldest part of Oz. I loved it when I lived in the far North of Australia for 6 years...wading in the same streams as Australian rainbows, watching archer fish do their thing...communing with the turtles. I currently have a community tank which is just 120 Litres...next year I will get something substantially larger. Am undecided whether to go for an Amazon biotope, or a Mbuna biotope. It's fun researching my options!

Michael.

Hi Jason! A pretty mixed collection at the moment; one blue gourami, one 6 inch silver shark that just shouldn't be in the tank at all (it's only 3 and a half feet), two angels, a bunch of neons (live food!!), some glowlights, three serpaes, two two spot barbs (love these, and want to replenish my stocks), two bristlenoses (female), one male krib, two female albino kribs, one Chinese algae eater, a school of danios, and a few whiteclouds. The tank is densley planted in spots, with plenty of rocks and wood for hiding places. Next year I plan to get a 350 litre tank - to put my festives in! lol. What sort of tank do you have?

Ah yabbys!! I used to catch them in the creek that runs by my flat, here in South Hobart (I've returned to live in the same neighborhood I grew up in). Did you catch yours? We always put them back though! lol Yep, a few too many fish, but I run an oversize cannister filter and do a 20% water change every two days. The fish all seem really happy. The tanks is 1085 mm, or just under 4 foot. It's a bit shallow though. I'll be thinning out my tank when I set up my bigger one next year, because the way things currently are, there's not enough room for my larger fish to grow. Cheers, Michael.
