Aquarium Advice Newbie
Established reef tank. 5+ years
Decided to add more liverock back in march.
Took partial qty of liverock out of tank and mixed it in with reef rock from other unkown reef setup.
Cooked in 50gallon trashcan alternating between two transhcans every week with fresh (RO) mixed saltwater.
8 weeks of this with control temp no light and powerhead.
In may added all the rocks back in tank.
At first it looked like white powder was settling on one liverock but for the most part all rocks were squeaky clean.
The powder started to spread and now is over 75 % pf rocks and is growing
It grows about 3 mm in length. Less concentration than hair algae and individual strands are 3 times as thick.
Powerhead placement directly on it isnt enough to convince to detach.\
Color is best described as an dull white.
Water parameters are in check.
Any comments on this problem would be greatly appreciated.
