My name is Kathy (Rish is a nick... short for Irish) I am 46, have 6 danios and 6 cory doras. Just started 36 gallon tank from a 10 gallon... so I am essentially cycling all over again. And I did it all wrong the first time! So researching more intensely this time. Tested daily for ammonia, always near 0... so didn't test for nitrites yet.. WRONG! Tested today... at least 5ppm. (card only goes that high) did about a 30 % water change. None of the fish seem stressed, but retest still shows nitrites at near 5ppm.

Welcome to AA.

Keep up on the water changes to avoid stressing the fish. Just because they don't look stressed on the outside doesn't mean they're not already stressing on the inside. Lots of internal damage can be done before we notice there's a problem.
