new guy

As per the PM I recieved when joining I was asked to introduce myself- so here goes:

I found this site after a web serch for a certain poly group (4) that I have- no luck yet.

I am a 32nd year master mechanic by trade with degree's in philosophy and history, also a 4th year apprentice electrician (my brother is a master electrician), my ex is a Marine Biologist.

I got into this hobbie when I was a kid some 40 years ago, started with a poor beta that my grans got me at KMART, yep- KMART, well you know....

Any way, I now have 4 tanks, as follows:

14 year old acrylic 110 gallon fresh water africian/south american mix tank that is very nice- it's cool to see these guys- they grew up as babbies together- including a now 18" long Oscar named greenie.

3 year old acrylic 165 gallon flat back hex marine reef system- the tank I take great pride in ~ which is wrong, but hey, we all have our vices. My cleaner shrimp eat from my hands now. So cool - I think.

2 year old 29 gallon "evil" tank- fresh water- it's my correctional center, when need be (presently holding a very mean red devil fish).

6 mo. old dip/acclimate/quarintine marine tank that is a 20 gallon tall.

I love the abilty to able to re-create certain water enviroments, as they are much the same to me as the moon is to us. We actually know more about our moon then we know about our own planet's water systems- figure that one out? Yet, I have never been to the moon, have you? (I would love to go if you have tickets)

And, aquaria is very relaxing (rewarding) when sucess has been achived, it some how calms my day.

Oh, and I have two dogs, Joe Joe and Taylor, respectively, a Jack Russell, and German Shep. - my girls.

It is my hope to learn what I can, and give back what I have learned over the years, this is a rewarding hobbie when done right, however, I fall out side the norm when I am told "can't do that", I simply prove them wrong - anything can be done- the question is- should certain things be done in the first place? All things considered- it is what YOU make of it.

Welcome to AA!! Love to see pictures! (you will come to learn that we love pics!)
Time is a great teacher, but unfortunately it kills all its pupils...

Minimum requirements means minimum happiness.
