Colt17 hears surf in the shell
New Member from Texas

Hello to all! I am venturing out on my first fish tank, supposedly for my twin 18 mo. old girls, but to be honest, more for me. I started this venture about 2 months ago and learned the hard lesson about surfactants in ammonia. After a complete tear down I am now 3 weeks into my fishless cycle and just now hitting my nitrite spike. I have a 29 gallon with pfs, driftwood w/ plant, and numerous fake plants and rock. My fish wish list once cycled is 1 angel, 1 pearl gourami, 5 cory's and maybe a BN pleco. This site has already helped me in countless ways and I look forward to the fun times ahead!
Thanks for all the help, as I have been lurking for a while!
Colter

Welcome to the site! I'm glad you read up on fishless cylcing! Sorry to hear about the surfactants, at least you caught on to it! Sounds like you are on the right track since you are getting nitrites. Wait for ammonia and nitrite to zero out, do a water change and you are set!

Again, welcome to AA!
