Burks has fishy dreams

New Member, long time fan.

Hello. My name is Craig and I'm a 20 year old college student at the University of Toledo (Pharmacy division). Ever since I was little, possible even when I was born, my family always had some type of aquarium. They have ranged from the tiny three gallon tank to larger 50+ gallons. Over the past few years we became too busy to keep up our large collection of fish and slowly gave them away. This August I moved away from home and have been without a tank.

Lately I've had the idea to start up my own tank. Only problem is my dad is the one who set up our tanks and kept them up, my job was to feed them. I do have access to a 55 gallon tank that is setup to go. It did has Oscars in there but they died and the owner no longer wants it. Hopefully I can get some advice here on what I may need and what kind of fish to raise.

Hope I have a nice stay here. Kind of long but hey.....I'm bored

welcome to AA!

check out liveaquaria.com and skim through the fish. They carry a lot of easily available fish (and their prices are also a bit higher so don't fret about that). Once you find some fish that interest you, then you can plan your tank around them.

I also suggest that you go through articles here on cycling a tank and other various topics. That way you can get a good basis of knowledge because fish stores are prone to giving bad information and just trying to sell you extra stuff or fish that won't work for you. Just go up to the top of the page under the ad banner where there are a lot of clicky's. The third one is titled "articles."
