Hi. So, I've never been a fish person. Never ever. But I dated this dude who needed somewhere to put his tank of aggressive fish and I have a salon so I let him bring it. Well when we broke up he left them. I've long since replaced the fish w the kind that I wanted, glow fish. Ive pretty much had to learn as I go, and everything has gone smooth for a couple years now. However, one of my fish has a WEIRD THING on his fin and it won't come off. I've brought video of it to petco and none of them had seen anything like it. What it looks like is some kind of sac, with like a little tiny worm in it, cuz u can see a tiny brown center. But part of his fin is gone and it almost looks like his fin is folded over. It really protrudes from the side of his fin, too. Idk it's creeping me out. There have been no new fish added. Only thing I can think is I went few days longer than usual to do a water change, that could've compromised it's immunity? There are 5 others and a large plecco in a 55 gal tank. Seeking some identification of this thing so I know how to treat it. Thank u!!

Yes. I got him in a bucket, and cut a straw at an angle, and very gently tried to knock it off of him. He must've understood, cuz it got the point of only having to hold the straw still, and he intentionally rubbed his fin against it. It is ATTACHED to him good! And it feels kind of hard. I can feel it when the straw makes contact it's pretty solid whatever it is.

It could be a tumor. If you are lucky it could just be scar tissue from a injury to the fin.
It's hard to tell. Dose it look fuzzy like a fungal infection?

You could cut it out. The fin will grow back. Just make sure you keep the water quality good for healing. Using aquarium salt will also help it.
