New to fish keeping

Hi, after reading & reading about aquariums I finally bought a Marineland 29 gal kit and a stand but haven't set it up yet(darn work gets in the way). I bought gravel but am thinking about returning it and getting sand-think it will be worth extra work in beginning-any thoughts?

Welcome to AA! Patience to research is one of the toughest things in this hobby. I prefer sand, but there are also good applications for gravel too.

I think the sand/gravel debate boils down to the fish you want. I switched to sand so I could have clown loaches. I didn't want the travel to scrape their bellies. Sand would be a better choice if you wanted to keep bottom dwellers. Just my thoughts though.

Welcome to AA!
My choice is sand. It's easier to keep clean and IMO looks much nicer.
