Smile New to the forums and new to aquariums!

Let me get started with a little background. I've always wanted some type of pet but was never sure what suited me best. The other week I stopped by my friends house and he showed me some of his aquariums, both freshwater and saltwater. They were amazing. Both tanks were set up beautifully and each fish had it's own style and personality. He talked about what goes into setup and maintenance. Being someone who is very meticulous, this interested me. I also love to fish and enjoy learning about a fish's habitat and knowing what goes on underneath the surface. So I was somewhat hooked, but hesitant to actually get started.

Fast forward to yesterday. I'm taking out my trash and I look in the dumpster and there is an empty fish tank lying there with the rest of the trash. Coincidence? Anyways, I pull it out and haul it up to my apartment. I clean it up and further inspect it. It measures out at about 30Lx12Dx19H, which on the internet checks out to be about 30 gallons. There are no scratches, no flaws, and no leaks. This thing looks like it could be up for display in a store. I am beyond excited at this moment. I'm pumped and I can't wait to get started. So I checked out this forum and it seems like a decent place to get started. I'm looking forward to learning from the experts and sharing with you my progress. Wish me luck!

Hello and welcome to the family!
