I am new to aquariums and fish in general...I am looking to set up a 5 gallon tank for a Betta fish. Wondering best tank to get, is it better to buy a horizontal tank, or vertical one...looking to find the best filters, and heaters, and plants (hopefully live)....I have read a lot from different sites, but am hoping to find as much information as I can before I go buy the wrong stuff....Thanks!

The tall or long thing is up to you. You can probably buy a nice kit of some kind that will be fine for a single Betta. Just be sure to buy a heater for him as Bettas like to be around 80 degrees.
