Newbie in Atlanta - Aquarium Advice

Heyo, just started up a 2 [acronym:05d2db87e6="Gallon"]gal[/acronym:05d2db87e6] tank a couple of weeks ago. Started out with three benighted goldfish that I won at a carnival. They all died pretty quickly of something that caused complete paralyzation

Not at all pleasant to watch but I wasn't too surprised given the source.

After disinfecting I bought three red wagtail platies and a black apple snail (trying to keep the biomass down). I asked for two females and one male. Got the opposite, so one of the males got beaten up...now that I can tell the difference myself I'll go back and get another female

Tank's right on schedule for cycling so wish me luck!
