Newbie here!

Hello, I am new here and I'm new to aquariums. My interest in aquariums started when I got my first beta, Sushi. I had him for years and he just recently passed away 💔
I got a new beta, but he doesn't seem to want to bond with me like Sushi did... I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or maybe his personality is just different?
I just got a 10 gallon tank but no fish yet, that's why I'm here, I wanna make sure I do everything right!

Bettas do have personality for sure. Maybe yours is in shock? Also have you ever heard of cycling a tank?

He's swimming around, active and eating. I think I'm just used to Sushi because whenever I approached the tank he would greet me (I'm sure he just thought he was getting more food, but it made me happy)
I've heard of cycling a tank but I'm not certain what it means or how to do it.

Newbie here!

Here's a couple of links to get you started on cycling an I'm sure he will warm up to you soon. What tank setup do you have him in?
