Planning in Portsmouth

I have been an avid freshwater aquarist for over 30 years (mostly Tanganyikan cichlids) and recently got the urge to set up a FOWLR tank. I'm currently doing my research and I will likely set up either a 30 or a 45 gallon tank to start. I have a used Bak-Pak 2 protein skimmer and about 50 pounds of live rock available from a friend. I haven't yet settled on what fish to start with, so suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
