Coralife makes an excellent light. I run (2) 2x65w over my 80 and a 1x96w over my 46 bowfront. Never any problems with any of the units. As for the length it refers to the length of the hood(fixture). The bulbs are 22" I believe for the 65w.

the fixture is 30". the bulb is about 22.5" inches. if you look really close at the photo on the box, you can see the bulb is centered in the fixture.

Ok, good. I didn't want to buy a 30" just to discover that was the bulb length making the strip waay too big for my aquarium. Will I notice a big difference between the strip I have now and this one?

the bulb/fixtur you have now probably only puts ouut 20watts. the coralife fixture is 65watts. you'll have 2 watts per gallon. it would be worth it to add some DIY CO2.

Already did the CO2, thanks for the tip though. It's bubbling away as I type. And yeah, it is a 20watt on a 30gal. Not even a watt per gallon. :(
