3d backrounds

Is there anyway to install a 3d backround to a fishtank that is already filled with water and set up?

I have read about people using rare earth magnets or even the magnets for algae removal - one embedded into the background and one on the outside of the glass - to attach a 3D background. That's about all I know about it though.
