40 gal breeder tank dimensions

last week I picked up a 40 gal breeder from petco buck a gallon sale.
anyway I filled it up it took 50 gals to fill, 25 5 gal buckets to fill
I thought 40 gal breeders measured 36x18x16 ,
so I measured my tank 36x18x18 , if my maths right I have 10 gals more making it a 50 gal
I can't complain since I never turn down extra space,
has anyone come across this with their breeders now I'm curious how many they goofed on

I dont think the manufacturer's messed up I think the store did. Your right on the deminsions

Petco just sells the one tank brand, so I wouldn't think they would even have a different sized tank. 40B are 36*18*17, so the are naturally right around 47g. The term "40B" is a bit of a misnomer.
