Wow!! Thank you soooooooo much for the explanation on filter types glmclell. I would really like the canister type filter, but the trick is getting my husband to let me actually buy one. I have heard only good things about them and just need to find one that works and is inexpensive (maybe only in the ideal world). Any ideas of places that carry the canister filter at low cost? Internet site?
Thanks again for all the help so far... I asked the question on another site and was just totally ignored. Oh, well.

well... I haven't shopped around for canisters lately, but Big Al's seemed to have the lowest prices when I last checked.

I don't know if something like nextag or froogle.google would help find the best price, but it's worth a shot!
