Acclimating corals to new light?

That's not correct. Limiting the time of light exposure is a tried and proven method. Check your reference books.:)
 
If you subject a coral to hi intensity light for 2 hours or 6 hours, it's still too much light. :)

Ok but those light loving corals are not going to be very happy. I've never kept sps corals just lps and soft corals. Each year I replace the T5 lights and I do this all at once and because the intensity is stronger I start off with giving them a couple of hours each day unroll I reach the 8 hr lighting period. Their happy and growing and I've been doing this with pc lighting and T5. To each his/ her own! :)
