What is an Actinic bulb exactly. When Actinics are usually mentioned, they are speaking of Blue (03), but there are white Actinics as well. Please clarify.

An actinic bulb is a bulb that puts out most of its light at about 420nm. The white actinics are bulbs with mixed phosphors usually 10k/actinic. They usually have a white appearance even though they are also giving off light that's around 420nm. I don't remember what the wavelength for 10k is. My opinion is that these bulbs probably don't do either color as well as a bulb that is not mixed. The only white actinics I know of are the URI NO and VHO tubes. I'm sure there are folks here who can give you a much more technical explanation, but I think the above is the basic info.
