Adding Ceramic Rings Cascade 700

I'm adding ceramic rings to my cascade 700. Where would the best place to put them in the filter be?

Put them in the top tray. Bio media is very porous and if put on the bottom will get clogged with detritus.

The setup originally was from bottom up… Tray 1 white carbon mesh bag, Floss Pad. Tray 2 Black sponge, floss pad. So, would I put the ceramics in place of the white floss pad in the 2nd tray or just underneath or on top of it?
