Air Pump

im quite a noob since ive only had an Aquarium for about 1/2 a year and i only got an Air Pump recently, so i was just wondering if regulating the air pressure using an air valve (cutting down the pressure) would cause the Pump to stress and burn out or die? thanks!

Restricting the air pump output can shorten it's life. If you got a cheap air pump, you might not care so much, but if you got a nice one, find a use for the extra air in a diffrent location in the tank. You can use Ts and valves to divert flow between two outputs.

thanks alot for the quick reply. what i did was i just got a T spliter and i split the connection into 2 (ong going into the Tank and one sitting outside) so when i want to restrict the amount of air going into the Tank i just let the air escape to the one sitting outside. So that way it wont stress the Pump. Thanks once again
