I just purchased a new 210 gallon tank and two of the pieces of hardware I bought for it were the All-Glass Aquarium model 4 sump and a Berlin Turbo Classic protein skimmer.

My specific question is, the protein skimmer is obviously a lot taller than the sump and there's a plastic removable cover over the top of the sump... am I supposed to cut through the top of the plastic cover to fit the protein skimmer in place? I mean, I could just remove the cover but I'd like to keep it on to reduce the evaporation.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd really appreciate it! Including the easiest way to cut through the top if need be.

I dont keep a top on my refuge except where the macro algea is. Will this be for SW or FW. It would make a great reef tank.

I have the model 3 sump and I just removed the cover I figure it will give me more oxygen exchange.
