any probs with mixing SW in Stainless Steel tanks?

I've got (2) 55 gallon SS tanks and was thinking of using one of them for mixing my RO water and salt for my PWCs.

Any reasons not to use this tank? It is food grade stainless, btw.

Also, it looks like my cycle is done. I've got diatoms (dusty rust colered algae that blows off stuff easily) and my Nitrates are thru the roof (80).

So I'm thinking of doing a 50% water change, or about 50 gallons in my 120.

Good idea?

Mike

I don't see any problem with using those SS tanks if they are food grade stainless.

If you're done your cycle and have those high nitrates, you should definitely do a water change and you'll be ready to get a clean up crew in there. You could do a 50% change, but you really only need to do about 30% in my experience. You'll want to do another one in a couple weeks anyway to make sure everything is staying stable. HTH

thanks for the quick reply. 30% sounds alot easier than 50.
