API Nitrite Test

Hello,

I'm using the freshwater master test kit and when I check the test at exactly 5 mins I think I have 2-4ppm of nitrite, if it's at 6-7 mins when I asked my wife for an opinion on the color it looks like almost 0ppm.

So must this be read at exactly the 5 min mark?

For the ammonia test whether it is 5 minutes of 10 minutes it's still the same color (0ppm).

I think I found out what was going on. Wound up shaking the solution and the color went to 0 ppm within the normal 5 mins.

Hahaha, just a case of reading. We all make that mistake.

I would still try and read it at the 5 minute mark - no more, no less. I know with the API nitrAte test, if you let it sit longer than specified the color will get darker on you. It's been so long since I've seen any nitrites, I can't remember if that one does it too.
