The manual doesn't specifically mention being saltwater compatible, but lots of people make small refugiums out of them and havn't had any trouble. A couple of thier special medias are listed as freshwater only, but the sponges and carbon should be all you need.
it'll work fine, but in SW, you'll have to rinse the media sponge every day or two, otherwise it becomes a huge nitrate factory, which is bad for reef setups.
most people though, just use LR for filtration, and powerheads to get at least 10 turnovers per hour. add a skimmer to complete the trifecta for a good setup.
