Aquaclear 30 or 50

I was at the store today and I am planning on starting up a 20 gallon long planted tank. I plan on keeping a German blue ram and the seem to have a reputation of needing good water quality. The AC30 powerfilter was $34 and the AC50 powerfilter was $39. Im pretty sure the more filtration the better and it seems like 100 gallons more per hour is worth 5 extra dollars. I'm just wondering if anyone would recommend the AC30 or 50, or is the 50 just overkill lol.

I had an AC50 on a 10g, so I don't think it would be overkill at all. I'd definitely go for that 50 over the 30, especially for a longer tank like that.

The AC50 is actually rated for a 20-50g tank. That would be my recommendation too.

+1 for the AC50. I have one on a densely planted 20L and it's adequate. I have an AC30 on a 20H and it's passable only because I upgraded it with an AC50 impeller.
