I bought an 300w Aqueon heater for my 55g, and a cheapo thermometer.
As the water came up to temp, i I noticed that setting the heater around 72 showed on the thermometer around 78, and so on.

I figured it was the cheap thermometer, so just put in a Corallife digital and it matches up to the cheap one.

Is the guide on the heater really that much off ?

Thanks, :thanks:

Have you moved the thermometer around the tank to see if it reads lower elsewhere. All of my heaters I have a couple degrees warmer to hold a temp. So I'm kinda the other way around. I would unplug it for a few min. then lower the temp on it a little and plug it back in. Then look at the light on it and make sure its not kicking on

haven't moved it around yet. thats a good thought.

at the moment its in the back right corner (facing the tank) and both thermometers are in the front left. the single ac70 is back right section of the tank. near the heater. (going to be adding an additional canister filter within the month)
