I have my simple ato built and will take pictures later tonight to post the thread but first check my reasoning please.
The ATO is 18 gal of which 15 gal will be filled. The pump is 4 inches off the bottom of the ATO sump.
I mixed 5 gal of Kalk at 1/2 teaspoon per quart for the 5 gal bucket only. This will be added to approximately 10 more gal. RO water in the ATO without vinegar. The concept in my mind was to mix it at 1/3 strength to start and see what my calcium and PH levels do. I understand the benefits of mixing Kalk with vinegar but again If my Calcium levels need boosting more I can go that route. I don't need the denitrifier action of using vinegar as my Nitrates are always very low.
Does this approach sound safe as a starting point?
