ballast location

where does everyone keep thier ballsts? MH and VHO. i would rather not keep mine on the floor next to the tank when they get setup. i will be using two coralvue 250w MH and a PFO 110w VHO. i dont know how hot theses particular ballasts get.

Its best to mount this on the stand some place where the ballast is in a cool and dry location. Having it on the floor is risky should you have alot of water spillage.

My Coralife PC ballast has tabs meant for mounting it vertical... mine's on the opposite side of my sump and in a nice, safe, dry place.

I have a huge "ghetto" hamilton ballast for my 2X400w and it can't go anywhere other than the floor. Luckily for me its hamilton so of course it broke down last week and a new one they claim to be smaller is arriving today. Since its GI-normous and totally ghetto I have it up on blocks next to my tank (seriously its supported by 4 bricks) If not it would be too hot on the carpet. Hopefully the new one can get moved under the stand today though <fingers crossed>
