Currently, I have two 36" NO florescent bulbs I need to replace. Currently, one is a white spectrum bulb and the other a 50/50. Between them are two 175 watt MH's in my 55 gal. They're timed to go on 1.5 hours before and after the MH lights.

Should I replace the NO's with Actinics, 50/50's, white bulbs or a combo of two? I'm leaning toward one actinic and one 50/50 to give me a dawn/dusk effect. Does this sound good? Thanks all.

Since you have the MH, the fluorescents are moreso "visual" for you than the benefit of the corals. Go with what you prefer, the corals won't care either way. If it where me, I'd go both actinic but that said, I have never seen the actinic colration of NO bulbs.

Cheers
Steve

I agree the NO bulbs are not making much if any impact on the corals.
What K are your MH? If their like 10K then the antinic would be your best bet. but if you have like 15-20K than the antinic will not make much of a color difference.
