What is the best canister filter for a 55 gallon???

I have an Eheim Pro on my 40g. Love it! Lots of folks like Fluval and some others, too. Avoid Marineland C series. Marineland makes some good products, but their canister filters have issues.

Eheim Pro is expensive, but worth it. They also have a classic that is much less expensive, but I haven't heard a bad word about them.

I have a rena filstar xp3 in my 55 and it's great, super silent and so good, my water has never been so clear

Cant go wrong with a Eheim Classic. They are dead silent too.

For cichlid, puffer, fowlr, or reef tank, I'd use Fluval fx5 after adding some media into the basket.

I use poly-fil on the top tray instead of the pad they provide. I think it does a better job to be honest.
