Best filter for Me

I have a 55 gal fw community tank. I (currently) have ~10 guppies, a pleco, a platy, and a clown loach (going to get another one). I am definatley going to get more fish, sell some of the guppies. So i probably will have around 20 fish total. What is the absolouste best filter for under $60. I have a sponge filter currently, and I'm going to get the new filter ASAP. So please help me pick out a good one!

I use the emperor 400 on my 55 gal and I think it only costs between $30-$40.

more sponge filter to keep from sucking in fry..LOL
or a prefilter on your canister or HOB filter
http://www.jehmco.com/PRODUCTS_/FILT...e_filters.html
look for anything to cycle about 275-300gph.. your stoking levels dont seem high enough for 500 but a aqua clear 500 would fit your disciption!!! I dont know what the new name for it is though.. maybe the one that filters 400gph.. would work well for you as well..

Ditto on the Emperor 400. I've got two on my 125 and they keep the tank looking great. I also use biopore cartridges in 4 of the 8 available slots. You can see pictures online at http://www.billandheather.net/the_fish.htm

Click on the 125 on the left. Pages load a little slow sometimes.

I have a 304 on my tank, which I love for everything except the periodic maintenance. Maybe I'm just bitter because I just had to do it yesterday. Anyway, because of the UV, I have to go with a canister filter. If I didn't have the UV I would probably go with a good HOB.

If only the fluval was under $60. I want a canister, but they're too expensive for me.

Since price is an issue look around online for Jebo canisters, they are good quality at dirt cheap prices.
