The t8 in my tank has just blown so I'm now in the market for a new bulb, I'm just wondering what type of bulb (if any) would be best for enhancing the colours of the fish? I have a 30g tank without plants.

IMO, a 50/50 bulb works great in a non planted tank... gives the tank a nice blue hue and shows off the colors of the fish very well. I used to run a 10,000k and actinic, which is essentially the same thing.

it's on the high end of the spectrum, it works, but I think somewhere around daylight (~6500k) is best to replicate nature. Some people don't like the color of 6700k, and since 10000k gives a crisper white, they use a combination of both bulbs.
