I got a big hydro sponge filter in my 125 tank.I got it mainly
as a add on to my two Rena canisters.I also got the sponge on
the return inlets of the two canister. the cleaning instructions
say to clean in faucet with cold tap water.,but wouldn't the
chlorine be bad for the sponge and my tank?:(
should I just clean it like I clean the filter media with aquarium
water?

sounds like the same set up as me though i just have them on my intake. the tap water wont hurt the sponge but would kill the bacteria on it. what i do is just take some tank water in a bucket and just squeeze squeeze squeeze... it will take some time should be done every month or two. i have the hydro pro so they dont clog as fast. i also use the hydro 5 so its the largest one they offer.
