Thank you!

Ok I think I am safe to get my Betta.

But I want some second opinions.

When I set this up all the bio medium was dry. I rinsed it well. When I filled the tank I used 100% water out of my established tank making sure I got some gunk in there too. I added 3 plants from my main tank and one snail who has been fed all week.

I did a 50% water change mid week just off the top.

I just tested the water. Ammonia and Nitrites are 0. The Nitrates are 20-40.

Am I good to go?

A white Betta idea was axed. No background and the white walls, he would disappear.

Meet Red... a Rose Petal male.

Red is a nice color choice. Really stands out.
I would keep an eye on the parameters even though the numbers look good.

Congrats for the tank and Red is a stunner!

A couple years ago I passed up one of these, a 4G though and regretted it. Wanted it for shrimp nano, 8G would be much better.

Woot!! Like the tank!!

Thank you. I passed on a 4 gallon as well. Too small for anything I would put in it.

PWC today. Red is doing great and so are the plants. I am going to replace the Biorb standard media in a few weeks with Biohome gravel and undergravel sponges. Gravel is sitting in funky tank water to get started on some bacterial growth. Click image for larger version
