building bio filter

im building a bio filter, i have an old 10g to make into a filter or should i get a 45g from my neighbor for $20?

2 jewel cichlid
2 convicts wfry 2-3 hundred

use the 10 to make your filter and buy the 45 to put fish in. Used to have a 45gal years ago. They are great for Angels.

10-gal sounds like a swell biofilter. It would be more than adequate, even overkill, for the 55 if that is the tank you are filtering.
