can a protien skimmer be too big

i have a 29 gal. sw tank with a sea clone 150 on it. i paid for the 100 and got sent a 150 (ebay) at first it worked fine now since it been up for about 10 month i've cleaned it one time (this past monday)put back together right,now i can't seem to get it ajusted right.with the air vavle ajust all the way out i am still getting alot of small or fine air bubbles.my fish dont seem to like this so they stay away from it . i have since unpluged and left it be.any help would greatly appaciated!

It seems as if the Seaclone series of Protein Skimmers can be a bit hard to fine tune at times....

I'd suggest to keep messing with it. Sooner or later your going to get it where it works fine. There are a lot of people on the boards on both sides of the fence.

Seems most skimmers have this issue. Generally its a matter of the fact that you just cleaned it. These seem to work most effectively (and least annoyingly) when they have a layer of slime built up on all the pieces.

Give it time to adjust -- try to minimize the amount of bubbling even if it means no skimmate is being pulled simply so you can build up that affective layer.
