I am thinking about getting a canister filter for my tank. My question is - I would have to place the canister itself off to the side and below the tank - which would mean the hoses would not be in a straight drop from the tank to the filter. Would this cause problems? Can there be some curve in the hoses from the tank to the filter?

Thankful for any adive.

If your stand has an opening, you can place the canister in the stand and run the hoses down to it. The hoses should be flexible to bend at the curve into the canister.

Just about every canister filter I can think of comes with flexible hoses that connect the intake/output tubes to the filter. Most of them come in lengths that should be sufficient for most configurations.
