Still can't decide on a filter for my 30 gallon with 4 large goldfish and no plants. The penguin 170 the local pet store sold is useless.Anyone thats had both the magnum and cascade, I'd like to hear. Can the magnum 250 be used 24/7 and get good results. The cascade 700 sounds like a great buy at 54.99,has great features.Does it work well for mechanical cleaning?Would it be good for sloppy goldfish in a 30h aquarium?

Aquaclear 300 would be the one to go with. Cheap, efficient, and replacement carbon/filters are readily available. Put a PH or sponge filter near the bottom of the tank also to keep the water good and circulated.

I would use the AC or a Rena Filstar XP2.

I have not used the Magnum or Cascade, so I'm not a bit helpful! :|
