I am a master electrician and just bought two 24 inch T5 under cabinet lights that are warm white. i have a 55 gallon corner bowfront tank thats 36 inches corner to corner and 30 inches high. i have fake plants and freshwater. i like the whiter bulbs light instead of the warm white bulbs that came with them. is there any kind of bulb thatll be better for the fish then normal tubes? is there also anyway to make a better hood for the besides aluminum foil for temporary reflection?

I think for the freshwater with fake plant, you can go with whatever kelvin you like.

If you can find tubes in either 5000K or 6500K or one of each, you will have a very nice looking light colour with pretty good colour rendition. White makes a very good reflector for light. So, paint the inside of the hood/canopy white.
