I have currently converted my 46 gal reef tank to all sps. So I changed out the lighting and currently have 500 watts of MH and 2x 90 watt VHOs. As suspected this would heat up the tank alittle more than before and with the weather in FL heating up I think It may be time to invest in a chiller.

Now comes the question, Which one do I buy?

The total volume of the tank is 75 gals which includes the sump. Right now the tank gets up to about 84-84.8 and drops to 80-81 at night. I know this is a good swing in Temp. which I hope the chiller can correct. I currently have 2x computer fans blowing across the tank, But I do not know how much they help.

Please let me know of some good chillers, one you have or have tryed, and if there are any good places to buy them.

Thanks

Here are two brands I know of available at the following link. Just click on each to view.

They also have discontinued chillers that can save you $$$ at the following page.

Fans blowing on the surface of the water can only help so much. As the warmer weather increases, so does the dangers of overheating the tank. Investing in a chiller is well worth the price. Reef systems are not cheap to put together and the time and effort alone getting it to a reasonably balanced point is worth protecting, let alone all the money invested in the coral.
