Cleaning power heads

Just wondering if anybody take their power heads out for routine cleaning , guess Im asking if your suppose to . My power heads are covered in coralline and I believe it's affecting the performance .

I've cleaned them in a water vinegar solution and it works just fine.

I think most of them come apart to clean the impeller.
