Has anyone tried using a cold cathode light from a pc as a moonlight? A few yrs back when aluminum cases and cold cathode were the rage in pc's, I built one with all the bells and whistles including the cold cathode.
Since I never really used the light in the pc I figured I would try it as a moonlight. It's a 12" blue light and it does look good at night, but since I never set up moonlight before I'm thinking it may be too bright.
Anyone using this kind of setup?

I agree with it being too bright. I use LED and I really enjoy how realistic it makes my reef look. You can even buy LEDS that emite almost the same light wavelength that the moon does for an even more natural environment.
