Perfect then, I just happen to have a smaller heater from when I upgraded tanks from a 30 to a 55. That should be enough, correct?

I don't know why this makes perfect sense buy im still nervous. Lol. Anyway, I now have a 150 watt and a 100 watt at both ends of the tank. Now after reading more, it looks like the 150 is a little underpowered for a 55 gal anyway.

Where is the best place to seat my thermometer? Its a glass one that suctions or I assume you can shove it into the gravel a bit.

The best location seems to be hung horizontally above a bubbler, which will help distribute the heat throughout the water column. Don't put it into the gravel. Heaters aren't supposed to be touching anything.

+1 on Lynda's advice. I have mine mounted on the back wall of the tanks mid way down the filter and a led light bar bubble I have provides circulation.

I have mine in a corner next to a airstone underneath the output of my filter

Im sorry I meant where should I put the thermometer that tells me what the water temperature of the tank is, you know like those stickers on the outside or like mine the glass ones that's about 2 inches long and suctions to the glass. I already placed the heaters in there locations.

Put one inside the tank on the other end opposite the heater

Okay since I have 2 in the tank but one is 50 watts smaller so I am going to put it on that end. Im assuming that will be the colder side. So far they have been doing a great job together.
