Correct placement of overflow tubes in a jet stream tank setup

I am in the process of setting up a 150 gallon jet stream tank and need to know it matters if the overflow tubes can be located in the two inner holes of the tank and the two return tubes then get installed in the two outer holes of the tank.

Someone told me I have if backwards (overflows in the two outer holes)...before I go any further in my setup I wanted to hear from those that might be in the know.
